Delicious Fried Tilapia Fish

Lenten season is soon going to be upon us, and for most of us, we have to eat fish on Friday. Here is an easy recipe of Tilapia fish to make for your family

Items Needed

  • 1 bag of fillet tilapia (16 0z.)
  • All purpose flour
  • Tapioca starch
  • Dried, chopped onion
  • Dried basil leaves
  • Garlic salt
  • Black, ground pepper
  • Frying pan
  • Cooking oil

Step One

Mix 1 cup of all purpose flour with 1/2 cup of tapioca starch! Add 1 table spoon of garlic salt, 1/2 teaspoon of black ground pepper, 1 teaspoon of dried basil leaves, and 1 table spoon of dried chopped onion to flour mixture.
Step Two

Take tilapia pieces and coat it with flour mixture. Set aside.

Step Three

In a frying pan, add about 1/4 cup of cooking oil on medium high heat.

Step Four

Slowly add in your tilapia piece by piece. Depend on big your frying in pan is, you can cook up to 4 pieces at a time. Let them brown for about three minutes, or until you see your fish is golden brown.

Step Five

Add a bit more oil in to your frying pan, turn your fish over, and fry for another three minutes. Take them out, and let them rest on a piece of paper towel to aborb the oil.


  • Serve with white rice, and vegetable.
  • A 16 oz bag of tilapia has about 8 pieces.
  • Feed a family of four for about $6.00 dollars.
  • If you don’t like basil, substitute it with different herbs that you prefer.
